Job Order Contracting (JOC) is a way of getting commonly encountered construction projects done easily and quickly. A JOC contract usually applies to a specific site or sites and can be used for any number of jobs that need to be done for as long as the contract is in effect.
The JOC delivery method is particularly well suited to repetitive jobs and situations in which owners know that many tasks will arise, but the timing, type of work, and quantity of work are unknown at the time the contract is signed. Many diverse tasks such as routine maintenance, upgrades and renovations, alterations, and minor construction for a site are very efficiently handled using a single JOC contract. These jobs usually have minimal design requirements.
NASCA/NASFA 2008 National Association of State Facilities Administrators June 7 - 11, 2008, Jackson Hole, WY
Presentation: JOC Implementation: Ensuring the Success of Your Job Order Contracting Program
JOC and other performance-based alternative delivery methods are relatively new to state facility administrators and require a different approach from leadership and staff, and greater investment up front to ensure maximum benefit. Many lessons can be learned from the history of implementation of JOC with federal customers, where the delivery method began, and from states that are pioneering use of JOC. This session will be a natural extension of last year's presentation on Legal Considerations of JOC, as many states move toward getting JOC laws in place and face the challenge of actually implementing a JOC program.

COAA Construction Owners Association of America - Annual Fall Conference November 19 - 21, Tampa, FL
Presentation: Value of Job Order Contracting
A Research Study This presentation provides quantified data on the key elements and value of Job Order Contracting (JOC) from an Owners perspective. The key elements of JOC are then compared to other construction delivery methods. This presentation is based upon a study conducted jointly by four universities collecting data on the characteristics of JOC. The study then presents the owners attitudes and perception with respect to the influence JOC has on construction cost, schedule, quality, safety, claims and overall satisfaction.
